Please let us know if you are interested in joining the orchestra. Even if there are no current vacancies we run a 'waiting list' in some sections and we call upon extra players when playing works with large orchestration.

Where possible, vacancies for players will be advertised and fair and equitable selection processes will be followed. 

There are no formal auditions but new members are asked to play in a few rehearsals as an informal trial. If your section leader and the conductor agree you will be offered a place in the orchestra.

By joining the orchestra, you commit to attend weekly rehearsals, playing in the concerts and doing the appropriate personal practice.

Players should be of at least Grade 8 standard or have substantial experience of orchestral playing at a high standard. This is particularly important for woodwind and brass positions.

Rehearsals are on Friday evenings, 6.30 to 9.00pm in Cardiff.
